about

Tomahawk Bang is a name that will, quite rightly, burn it’s way into your brain. Not only because of how awesome that name just is, but also because he backs it up with equally awesome house music. Proof positive is his first ARCo. release: The Sacrifice.

Opening with title-track ‘The Sacrifice’, Tomahawk Bang begins with a charged note that slowly builds with the lightest touches here and there before the statement hook takes things in a wholly electronic style which then keeps us there with intricate and unpredictable notes. A totally refreshing take on the deep house genre!

Up next he gives us another piece of the puzzle with ‘Dusty Footwork’. An off-beat offering with a vibe that exactly evokes the title of the track. An effort as spiritual as the man himself, you find yourself giving in and letting the music take you on a journey of delightful hi-hats and deep bass punctuations.

Then, as a final treat, Martin Atjazz lends his particular talents to the fray with his edit of ‘Dusty Footwork’. Taking the ideas of the original and giving them a European twist, this effort adds and extra level of harmonic that you can’t help but enjoy.

Tomahawk Bang has certainly shown he is one to keep an eye on with this superb opening release.

The deeply spiritual nature of his culture serves as one of the clearest influences and most pertinent characteristics of his music. ... more
